Abstract: Abstract The issues surrounding the debate about climate change and what to do about it add up to a ‘perfect storm’ of complexity, uncertainty and doubt. They involve subtle matters of science, engineering, economics, accounting, politics and ethics — each of which can itself be relied on to provide a rich vein of confusion and disagreement whenever matters of substance and wider interest are discussed. This confluence of complexity might simply be an intellectual curiosity if it were not for the fact that decisions of monumental importance need to be made, and made quickly.
