Abstract:
Abstract It is generally agreed following the 2007–08 financial crisis that the western system of corporate governance is in need of reform. There is a debate about the extent to which the crisis has exposed governance weaknesses in sectors other than banking, but insofar as failures in bank governance systems were partly responsible for the crisis, all large western companies need to review and reform their governance systems, because all are governed in the same way as banks.
