Chapter Chapter 8 in Women and the New Business Leadership, 2011, pp 141-165 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract We have argued, in this book, that the most urgent challenge faced by our largest companies at the beginning of the second decade of the 21st century is to find new ways to govern themselves that will reduce the chances of a recurrence of what Marcus Agius, Group Chairman of Barclays, called the “near death experience” of the world banking system in 2007–08 (see Chapter 2).
