Chapter 8 in Managing People in a Downturn, 2011, pp 33-34 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract It is remarkable how quickly people and their companies rise and fall in popularity. One day a wunderkind, a hero, a chosen one and the next, a shallow, dubious, charlatan. Is it a northern hemisphere manifestation of the tall poppy syndrome? Is it poor judgment, or the demands of the modern public that we place artistic, business and potential leaders on a pedestal then tear them down.
