Chapter 4 in Retail Internationalization in China, 2011, pp 52-75 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract After identifying research gaps and setting up research propositions in Chapter 3, this chapter will discuss methodology. In order to take a holistic perspective, an explanatory case study approach will be used to achieve the research aim and answer the research questions. The chapter will start by explaining why a case study approach has been chosen and then introduce the multiple-case replication design chosen for this research. Next, it will discuss the selection of cases and set up a case study protocol. Then, data collection methods (triangulation) will be presented, case reports will be designed, and the justification of the research design will be given. Finally, the experience of conducting research in China will be discussed and conclusions will be drawn.
