Social TV

Michael Kare-Silver

Chapter 9 in E-Shock 2020, 2011, pp 66-75 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Social Media is becoming a fundamental part of our lives but it’s about to get even more mainstream. It’s going to appear on a TV near you any time soon. “Social TV” is already being touted as the next bit game changer waiting to revolutionize our lives. Still waiting to get that flat screen TV, looking enviously at HDTV and the crystal clear display, imagining what it would be like to have 3D in the living room, budgeting to access movies on demand via NetFlix or LoveFilm … already seeing a whole horizon of gradually upgrading your TV watching habits? Well, even while consumers are getting up to speed with all these innovations, the next generation of TVs is already in production and being shipped.
