Chapter 13 in Intervention in the Modern UK Brewing Industry, 2012, pp 152-164 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract As a result of the Courage/Grand Met and Allied/Carlsberg deals, a brewing industry consisting at the beginning of 1991 principally of the mighty Bass plus five others had by early 1993 become one consisting principally of three more or less sizeable companies — Bass, Courage and Carlsberg-Tetley, with a combined market share of 59 per cent — plus two others, namely, Whitbread and Scottish & Newcastle (S&N), each with a share of 11–12 per cent.
