Chapter Chapter 3 in Managing Challenging Clients, 2012, pp 41-81 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Many of your clients will be quite content to let you handle the project you are managing for them as you see fit. They’ll want some degree of influence in the process of your work, including, among other things, receiving regular updates from you on where you have got to with key issues, and regular reports on the nature of the outcomes you are creating for them. They’ll want some say in the key decisions that need to be made, and will want to give you their view on other factors that affect the process of the work. But generally speaking, these clients will not experience your managing the project on their behalf as a diminishing of their own power or influence. So they will be content to relinquish most of the control of the day-to-day running of the project to you, and to play a more limited role than you play yourself in its process.
