Social Entrepreneurs in the Social Innovation Ecosystem

Heather Cameron

Chapter 8 in Social Innovation, 2012, pp 199-220 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract This chapter uses social innovation as an analytical concept (Phills et al., 2008) to explore the socially entrepreneurial ecosystem (Bloom and Dees, 2008). Specifically, this chapter aims to contribute to a better understanding of the processes in this ecosystem by investigating how social entrepreneurs emerge and how they locate themselves with regards to the social innovation ecosystem and universities in particular. These issues will be approached from two perspectives: theoretically and through empirical research.
