Chapter 6 in European Airport Retailing: Growth Strategies for the New Millennium, 1998, pp 156-179 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The contribution that good human resource (HR) management can make to the efficient functioning of a business remains a well-developed theme. The importance of selection and recruitment, training and development, morale and motivation are key elements in the guide to better HR practice. The objective of this chapter is to examine these practices from an airport’s perspective. As in previous chapters it will be possible to identify similarities between the employment practices of airports and other retail sectors. However, because of the unique nature of airport trading, alternative HR approaches are often required.
