Abstract:
Abstract Flexibility has been, on balance, a success for employers. It has helped to meet demand peaks more productively while covering for holidays and sick leave. For employees, it has accommodated their personal circumstances and improved their access to skills and jobs. In particular, it has accommodated the personal preferences of employees with caring responsibilities; young people wishing to get on the job ladder; and adults faced with the prospect of unemployment.
