A chapter in The New Business of Football, 1999, pp 198-201 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Football off the field has changed beyond all recognition in the last decade. Satellite television, freedom of contract, super leagues, the Stock Exchange: all have contributed to turmoil in the football industry. Whether change has benefited football on the field is open to debate. What is certain is that there is no going back. In fact, it seems more likely that the pace of change in the football industry will continue to accelerate in the coming years.
