Introduction
John Mills
Chapter 1 in Tackling Britain’s False Economy, 1997, pp 1-21 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This book has two major themes. The first is that the performance of the British economy over a long period has been far worse than that of any other comparable economy in the world. The second is that there is no necessary reason why this should have happened. It has occurred only because of clearly identifiable policy mistakes, caused by faulty analysis and intellectual error. By changing its policies in entirely manageable ways, Britain could do very much better.
