Cargo Analytical Integration in Space Engineering: A Three-dimensional Packing Model

Chapter 11 in Operational Research in Industry, 1999, pp 232-246 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The cargo analytical integration of carriers and modules addresses two main activities: the cargo accommodation and the engineering analysis. The first focuses on the layout aspects, geometrical arrangement, and mass properties. The second deals with the compatibility analysis to ensure the feasibility of the cargo accommodation, the overall system functional and operational characteristics. Tight requirements of modularity, accessibility, operability, system static and dynamic balancing, logistics constraints, and functional and operational conditions lead to an efficient use of the available volume.
