Abstract:
Abstract The phenomenon of leadership has been the subject of a considerable body of literature in the humanities and certain branches of the social sciences. Traditions of inquiry into leadership have been particularly prominent in philosophy, politics, anthropology, psychology, sociology and history. Moreover, insights from all these traditions have been integrated into studies of management and organizational behaviour that have been of both an academic and popular nature. A particularly comprehensive and useful survey of these studies is provided by Bass (1990).
