What Is Leadership?

Steven I. Davis

Chapter 3 in Leadership in Financial Services, 1997, pp 127-130 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract The first question asked in each of the interviews was ‘what is your concept of leadership?’ Did the individual leader have a well-thought out concept of what leadership was and how he should behave as a leader - or did it just happen? From the responses to this question, it is clear that few had thought deeply about their role as a leader in conceptual terms. Many profess not to regard themselves as particularly successful leaders - although in terms of our paradigm of leadership (discussed in Chapter 7) they certainly are.
