Corporatism, Regulation and Financial Services

Michael Moran

Chapter 1 in The Politics of the Financial Services Revolution, 1991, pp 1-20 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Comparative enquiry resembles foreign travel. Both are expensive, time consuming and bewildering. Both are also best done in a spirit of parochialism. We learn about abroad by comparing foreigners with ourselves. The most rewarding comparison, like the most rewarding travel, thus consists in a continuous series of surprises — sometimes at the strangeness and sometimes at the familiarity of foreign practices.
