Chapter 2 in Foreign Investment in China, 1999, pp 26-50 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter examines the main attractions of China to foreign investors in the context of the contemporary world economy. Three key issues are addressed here. First, the process of globalization in the evolving world economy since the early 1970s is analysed, and major tendencies in the growth of FDI are identified. Then, the necessity and key motivations for investing in foreign markets (in third world countries in particular) are discussed. Finally, in the third section, the different types of FDI in China are identified, and the main attractions of China to each type are highlighted.
