Abstract:
Abstract One of the important goals of transformation has been the privatization of state-owned enterprises and the creation of an environment for the rise of new private enterprises. Lavigne (1995, p. 157) distinguishes privatization in the broader sense and the narrower sense. The former includes, besides transfer of property rights from state enterprises to private hands, which can be characterized as privatization in the narrow sense, also state enterprises which are managed by market rules and commercialization of state enterprises. In this study privatization is understood in the narrow sense.
