Can We Leverage R&D and Engineering through Outsourcing?
Dimitris N. Chorafas
Chapter 6 in Outsourcing, Insourcing and IT for Enterprise Management, 2003, pp 120-142 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Contrary what many people and several companies tend to believe, innovation is primarily a matter of ingenuity and concentration, not of big, expensive and usually slow-moving laboratories. This is particularly true about product innovation, therefore applied research and development. Basic research is a different proposition, which does not mean that big numbers can produce better results than a small highly learned, motivated and well-equipped group of people.
