Tackling Current Challenges
Fiona Westwood
Chapter 3 in Accelerated Best Practice, 2004, pp 45-67 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Most of us working in the professional sector feel that the marketplace is putting pressure on us to change the way we deliver client services. In this Chapter, we will analyse these pressures and their relevance in allowing us to feel more in control of our future direction and success. We will also review some of the established experts in the field of management, look at what they suggest and identify the elements applicable to our area of concern. Current themes include knowledge management, partnering and emotional robustness. Much of what they offer fits well with professionals and professional firms. As a result, we should be reassured that we do not need to introduce dramatically new models or ways of working, but instead refine what we currently do to achieve accelerated improvements.
