Abstract:
Abstract In March 1999, getmobile.de was founded by a team of management consultants, IT specialists, and marketing experts to create a business-to-consumer e-commerce shop for mobile communication devices and service plans. The company received its first round of financing in June 1999 and launched its service on 15 July 1999. The second round of financing closed in March 2000. By the end of the year 2000, getmobile.de and its subsidiaries had a workforce of 60 people and achieved 50 million DM in revenues. The headquarters of this e-commerce start-up is located in Munich, Germany. Getmobile.de’s mission encompasses two building blocks: being the expert of mobile communication in the business-to-consumer market and being the e-services partner of the mobile communication industry. In order to finance its ambitious growth, the firm plans to make an IPO in 2001.
