Chapter Chapter 4.4 in E-Roadmapping, 2001, pp 112-139 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract In April 1999, GoIndustry.com was founded by two former consultants and a venture capitalist to create a B2B trading platform for used and surplus equipment. The company received its first round of financing of US$10 million from Atlas Venture in October 1999, and launched its website in December 1999. The second round of financing of over 42 million euros closed in May 2000, with Internet Capital Group and Atlas Venture as lead investors. The headquarters of this e-commerce start-up are located in Munich, Germany with main offices in London and Paris, and additional subsidiaries across Europe. GoIndustry’s mission is to become the leading asset recovery service provider online with the full range of value-added services and offline capabilities. With regards to the latter, GoIndustry has just completed the strategic acquisition of Karner & Co. AG auctioneers to complete the offline market offering.
