Abstract:
Abstract Earlier in our careers, both of us worked at the Institute of Management in the UK. Although it was the largest professional body of managers in Europe its reputation and profile were somewhat mixed. Previously it had suffered from some quite serious problems that had caused significant wobbles to its viability. This situation had been stabilised largely through the careful and astute actions of John Robins, who had been recruited from a long and successful career as Finance Director with Marks & Spencer.
