Summary of the Myths

Philip Channer and Tina Hope

Chapter 1 in Emotional Impact, 2001, pp 3-6 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract The idea for this book came from our experience of working with leaders who had been responsible for, and successful in, delivering transformational change. In working with these individuals, it seemed obvious to us that there was something extraordinary about them, and this ‘specialness’ seemed to us different from the media-created image of such leaders. Therefore it seemed important to lay out some of the myths that surround the whole subject of leadership and of change. In Chapter 11 we revisit these to see what perspective our sample gives us on this.
