Our Own View: Some Guidelines for the Future

Steven I. Davis

Chapter 13 in Bank Mergers, 2000, pp 121-142 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract The views of our interviewees from the preceding chapters are clear. By and large our senior bankers agree with the consulting fraternity on the key dimensions of merger execution, and they are certainly in accord among themselves on how the banking sector will evolve in the future. There are discordant notes struck on the trade-off between speed of execution and the arguments for a more leisurely pace, as well as a few worries about the Internet and how to manage tomorrow’s larger and more complex institutions, but by and large a strong consensus exists on most key issues.
