On Market Interference
Gavin Kennedy ()
Chapter 44 in Adam Smith’s Lost Legacy, 2005, pp 181-184 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract One way to clarify what seems to be a set of contradictory stances by Smith on market interference (his support on some occasions for preventing interference and his recommendations on others for encouraging it) is to examine briefly his stance on some 18th-century issues. These are best considered in the context of his critique of restraints on competition, though it also encompassed equity and fairness.
