Abstract:
Abstract The changes in apparel retailing since 1990 have been some of the most momentous in the entire retail industry. It is the one retail sector where international retailers have played a major role, especially in the luxury brand category. This sector is now driven by the top global brands. In addition, in many cases the brand owners themselves now control their own distribution channels, a dramatic change from 1994 when licensees and distributors controlled most of the supply. In sportswear too, brands like adidas, Nike, and Puma have grown significantly with retail stores of their own.
