Chapter Chapter 5 in Sources of Information Value, 2004, pp 78-84 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The hosting stage (3) (see Figure 1.3, p. 11) consists of two types of companies — Web hosting firms and application service providers (ASPs). The former provide outsourcing services for corporate customers to manage their hardware, software (creating, storing, and managing data and applications, especially for the World Wide Web) and Internet-access needs. ASPs rent software applications over the Internet to businesses, providing customers with remote access to software applications in exchange for a per-usage or monthly fee.
