Conceptualization of Technology
Simon Teitel
Chapter 4 in Technology and Skills in Zimbabwe’s Manufacturing, 2000, pp 37-43 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Acquisition of technology and the growth in technological capabilities, at the plant, firm, and country levels, may be conceived as an evolutionary process including three discernible main stages: acquisition, operation cum attending modification (adaptation), and creation, of technology (see Teitel, 1993, chapter 11). The way industrial firms organize internally to manage technology acquisition, operation, and change, is conditioned by several factors among which size and foreign connections seem to be of paramount importance.
