Making sense of your current situation: knowing where to start

Chapter 18 in Enterprise Programme Management, 2004, pp 258-262 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This book has focused on delivering an organisation’s strategic objectives through a process of strategic portfolio management, programme delivery management and project management, and building a programme management capability. In reality it is very unlikely that in starting to take seriously the need to develop this capability, an organisation will currently have no projects or programmes ongoing. In fact, it is most likely that there are numerous projects and programmes currently at different states of development and implementation throughout an organisation. In this situation, it is often difficult to know where and how to start implementing some of the ideas described in this book.
