Abstract At the end of the nineteenth century and beginning of the twentieth century, economic activity became increasingly internationalized, and after the end of the Second World War this process accelerated. In particular, the last two decades of the twentieth century saw some dramatic turning points and far-reaching changes in the business environment that have had a lasting effect on the way business is done.
