Abstract: Abstract As shown in the preceding chapter, the developing states in East Asia controlled uncertainties of technological developments, including decisions over issues such as investment, commercialization, the dissemination of knowledge, and the protection of intellectual property rights. The emerging global technology market and the unregulated encroachment of mad technology in the form of the internet and other interactive media mechanisms created a new political economic force that is destroying traditional NIS in many developing and developed countries. In this chapter we will analyze what has changed in the Japanese, Korean, and Taiwanese NIS since the inauguration of the TRIPS agreement.
