Chapter 8 in Institutions for Social Well-Being, 2008, pp 198-221 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Cultural diversity creates obvious problems for the institution and operation of markets. It substantially reduces the liquidity of resources and raises major obstacles against their mobility. It also encourages identification with particular groups, which restricts economic solidarity and often impedes forms of reciprocal insurance outside the boundaries of those groups.
