Abstract In the 1990s, many qualified and influential observers considered Argentina a kind of poster child for the Washington Consensus-inspired reforms (Tommasi and Forteza, 2006). To a great extent, this reputation was due to the rapid reform of the domestic financial architecture (DFA).
