Chapter 8 in Understanding China’s Growth, 2007, pp 204-221 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Despite China’s spectacular economic ascent, it is not a growth miracle.1 The world has seen similar economic performance before, including Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan. To sustain growth, it is encouraging to see that Beijing is taking steps, albeit slowly, to break the classical communist policy icons and free the system.
