Abstract: Abstract There’s a lot of corruption in China. Not as much as in, say, Africa. But enough to be part of contemporary China’s way of life. Transparency International rated China in terms of its perceived corruption at 70 out of 163 countries in 2006 (a rating of 1 implies little or no corruption), meaning that China was perceived as less corrupt than Indonesia or Nigeria but more corrupt than Turkey or Malaysia.1
