Chapter 1 in Energy Security, 2008, pp 1-23 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Traditionally, energy security has been defined as adequate, affordable and reliable supplies of energy. Energy is essential for economic development and human security alike. Secure energy supply can be seen as a public good for societies, for which governments must ultimately take responsibility to minimize market supply failures. Disruptions of oil, gas and electricity can have severe consequences for societies, economies and individuals.
