Abstract:
Abstract National Medal of Technology recipient George Kozmetsky saw technology and ideology as the dual drivers of economic change. In his later years, Kozmetsky, an internationally renowned academic and industrialist, enunciated a philosophy of “shared prosperity at home and abroad (Kozmetsky, 1997; Kozmetsky, Jackson and Boyd, 2001; Kozmetsky and Williams, 2003).” Kozmetsky’s speeches on this topic inspired many developing regions to network internally (across economic, social, and government sectors) and with like regions elsewhere. The effects were notable and positive. National governments, international bodies, and NGOs have adopted the term “shared prosperity” as a banner.1
