Rules

Adrian Furnham

A chapter in Head & Heart Management, 2008, pp 150-151 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Over a hundred years ago, Max Weber noticed that all organizations became more rule-bound over time. He believed that this was a good thing, because rules are aimed at increasing efficiency: he was, after all, the father of bureaucracy. Rules, like laws, make for an orderly, predictable, fair organization. A naïve view?
