Abstract:
Abstract The habit of distinguishing the expression Welfare State’ from that of Welfare Society’ is becoming widespread.1 This distinction is called into play above all by those who wish to imply the idea or express the desire for an overcoming in some way of a certain ‘crisis’ in the ‘Welfare State’ - that based exclusively on the (redistributive) action of the state; in order to pass to a ‘welfare society’, i.e. to that welfare founded on a more functional and fair society structure: more ‘integrated’, as we argued in the Introduction, and therefore more politically and economically ‘democratic’.2
