Abstract:
Abstract On 1 and 2 December 1969 the Heads of Government, or in the French case the Head of State, of the six member states of the European Communities convened in The Hague at the joint initiative of the new German Chancellor, Willy Brandt, and the French President, Georges Pompidou, who earlier that year had succeeded General De Gaulle. At the meeting it was agreed to deepen and to widen the European Communities.
