Abstract: Abstract Georgia located in the South Atlantic region of the United States, had a population of 9.4 million people, making it the ninth most populous state in 2006. The state’s population increased by 1,177,488 people from 2000 to 2006, and is projected to increase to 11.4 million by 2025. This 1.1% projected annual growth rate compares to the projected national average of 0.8%. Per capita personal income in Georgia was $32,025 in 2006, up from $31,088 in 2005. For 2006, this was fourteenth lowest in the country and $4,604 below the national average. From 2000 to 2006 per capita income in Georgia grew at an average annual rate of 2.3%, compared to 3.5% nationally.
