Abstract:
Abstract This chapter outlines and evaluates potential sources of data for use in constructing the desired average hourly compensation (AHC) series. For average hourly earnings (AHE), earnings and wages are the fundamental data required. However, because average annual earnings (AAE) will be used as benchmark figures for part of the period, data on average number of days of operation per year (ADO) are required to convert AAE to average daily earnings (ADE), and then average daily hours (ADH) are needed to convert ADE to AHE.
