Chapter 5 in Privatisation Performance in Major European Countries Since 1980, 2006, pp 97-142 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This and the following chapter present the empirical results found by the use of factor analysis as a technique for measuring comparative corporate performance and subsequent privatisation performance. Throughout, the output results from the use of the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) will be discussed. The output from the package, however, is comprised of many different elements ranging from descriptive statistics to the rotated component matrix. The main focus will be on a table, the principal component matrix. In general, further refinement of the factor analysis — through rotation, for example — has not significantly enhanced or modified the results. Consequently, the principal components alone are reported here, but other output is available upon request.
