Chapter 3 in Women in Business, 2012, pp 30-49 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract This chapter deals with the importance of early career issues for working women. As the quote above illustrates, the value of what happens is often clearer when successful women leaders reflect on the early phase of their career. Of course, not everyone dreams of having the top job and being chief executive or chairman of the board. Some of us may wish to be teachers or scientists by choice or perhaps don’t have any particular career dreams, but are happy to find a job we enjoy and stick with it whether as a manager, a professional or something else. That’s OK and there’s nothing wrong with that. However, there’s always value in reflecting on your working life so far to help you understand more about your career and job needs. This can then assist and inform future choices and opportunities.
