Abstract: Abstract This chapter deals with the case of the Eastern Seaboard Development Plan, which was planned and constructed during the 1980s and early 1990s in Thailand, with particular reference to its institutional aspects. After examining the interplay between the challenges Thailand faced and its responses to these obstacles, we try to analyse the key institutional elements that led to the achievements of its goals, in an attempt to draw out hints for other developing countries, including Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA).
