Abstract: Abstract This chapter provides an analysis of the transportation and supply chains of Australian iron ore and coal production. The first section will explain and analyse the coal exports from the eastern coast of Australia whilst the second section will cover the iron ore exports from the northwestern deserts of Australia. Both resources rely heavily on rail transport to the export ports and both rail networks involved with these minerals have experienced recent controversy. China’s demand for coal to generate electricity is the largest in the world.
