The Ascension of Intellectual Property Rights
Michael Perelman
Chapter Chapter One in Steal This Idea, 2002, pp 13-43 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Proponents of intellectual property rights seem to regard them as the pinnacle of the market economy. This perception seems to parallel a changing vision of the economy. For the last two centuries, the market appeared to be a particular organization of society to create material objects. In recent years, it has been seen more as a means to foster the development of information.
