Chapter 9 in Transforming Japanese Workplaces, 2012, pp 194-204 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract So far I have examined the landscape of Japanese workplaces undergoing transformation since the turn of the twenty-first century. Furthermore, I have attempted to conceptualize the new approaches (regarding management practices and organizational culture) that Japanese companies took and to empirically test their effectiveness. In this chapter, I summarize those transformations and identify lessons that companies outside Japan can learn, including those transformations that Japanese companies have undergone over the past decade or more. Finally, I mention future Japanese workplaces and conclude this book.
